Anastasia Krutulis earned a degree for a deeper comprehension of education

Anastasia Krutulis saw value in a Purdue Global degree to help move her career forward. She’s sharing how earning an online master’s degree has contributed to success.

I was very excited when I decided to come back to school. I’m the director of out-of-state recruitment for the College of Science at Purdue University, so the idea that I could earn a master’s degree in higher education was amazing. I could maximize my potential. I have a master’s degree in library science, so this opportunity through Purdue’s employee benefits seemed like a great way to grow.

I wanted to be marketable and move forward in my career. My role in higher education came more recently in life – I didn’t have a background in it – so I was looking for the credentials that could help me take on higher responsibilities.

Interacting with people from all over and learning their perspectives enriched everything.

When the next career opportunity comes up, I’ll definitely be better prepared for it because of obtaining an administrative degree. The degree itself did so much for me in my role. It was like putting on a pair of glasses: “Oh, I understand how this works now.” It’s helped me in a lot of ways.

I really enjoyed the student experience and getting to see what gaining an online degree was like. It was difficult but doable, and I learned how to manage my time in a completely new way. Interacting with people from all over and learning their perspectives enriched everything.

The entire process was motivating for me. Before attending Purdue Global, I wasn’t very familiar with online platforms, but after graduating I actually ended up teaching a section of a Purdue class digitally. I knew what the students were going through, so I was able to manage this asynchronous course a lot better than I would have if I hadn’t been through something similar before.

I’m proud of the fact that I jumped back in after earning my other degrees years ago. Learning is never over. If you have the opportunity, take it. I’ve encouraged colleagues, “You should try this.”
